Hannah Gartside is a visual artist and costume designer. In her practice she transforms fabric and everyday textiles using craft processes of wet-felting, garment pattern-making, and patchwork quilting. Her recent work focusses on materialising experiences of joyful erotic curiosity and tender care, through sculpture, photography and installation. 
 
Hannah lives in Melbourne, Australia where she received a Bachelor of Fine Art in Sculpture and Spatial Practice from Victorian College of Art, University of Melbourne. She also holds a BFA with Honours in Fashion Design from Queensland University of Technology. Hannah is a recipient of the Lou & Mary Senini Student Art Award from McClelland Gallery and Sculpture Park (2016) and a National Gallery of Australia Women’s Association Award (2016).

Hannah has exhibited at Craft Victoria, Metro Arts Gallery (QLD), Perth Institute of Contemporary Art (WA), QUT Art Museum (QLD), Artisan Gallery (QLD),  Margaret Lawrence Gallery (VIC), George Paton Gallery (VIC), McClelland Gallery and Sculpture Park (VIC), Yarra Sculpture Gallery (VIC) and Wangaratta Art Gallery (VIC). 


She has been interviewed for Craft Victoria’s Craft TV, The Fashion Archives, and Vice Creators Series, and featured in Peppermint Magazine. 
 
Hannah’s residency was supported by a Moreland City Council Individual Development Grant.
